Kulappully

Kulappully is a small town where the Thrissur - Shornur - Pattambi road joins Palakkad - Ponnani Road. It is just 4 kilometers North of Shornur. All recent developments in Shornur Municipality is centered in Kulappully, especially after the construction of a New Bus Stand complex here. Though some buses (especially Thrissur - Ottapalam buses) enter the stand only when Traffic Police is present, the Bus Stand and its surroundings have turned out to be a recent commercial centre. There are lots of long-distance buses plying through Kulappully, which includes Salem - Guruvayoor SETC (Tamil Nadu), Nilambur - Thiruvananthapuram Express, Vandoor - Thiruvananthapuram Super Fast, Nilambur - Ernakulam Low Floor JNRUM, etc. Due to these long-distance buses, Shornur Railway Station, which is just 3.2 km away, is always reachable from Kulappully.


Kulappully, is actually a junction of 4 roads - Palakkad Road to the East, Pattambi Road to the West and Shornur - Thrissur to the South join at Kulappully centre in a T - Junction. A few meters down the Pattambi road is the Kayilyad Road to the North, which makes Kulappully accessible to places like Mundakkottukurussi, Kayilyad, Chalavara, Pathirikkunnathu Mana, Vallappuzha and Cherpulassery. Government Printing Press, Kerala Fire and Rescue Station, and The Metal Industries Limited is located in Kulappully, on the Shornur Road. To the East is located Shornur 220KV Sub Station, which pulls power from Madakkathara 400 KV Sub-Station and distributes the same to the neighbouring 110 KV Sub-stations and local 11 KV Feeders.
